Library Day
Thursday is our library day. Please send your child's library book to school every Thursday.
Homework
The only homework in first grade is for each student to read for 100 minutes each week. In order for your child to receive credit, their reading minutes must be written on their reading log in their take-home folder. Reading logs are checked every Friday. This is THE MOST IMPORTANT homework and should be completed every week.
Baggie Books
Your child should be reading their baggie book every night. This is the best way to improve their reading level. Your child should be changing their book each morning when they come into class. If your child has read their book but continues to bring it home, please remind them to change it the next day. If your child is still reading baggie books with the level C, D or E then it is particularly important that they are reading EVERY NIGHT in order to improve their reading level and reach the goal of I (level 16) by the end of the year. Students who are not reading level I books (level 16) by the end of the year will not be prepared for success in second grade. Reading as much as possible at home with an adult right beside them is THE BEST WAY to help them. Also, students who have 100 minutes each week will receive a reward on Fridays.
Take-Home Folders
Please check your child's folder every night and initial their calendar. Students who have their folder signed every day will receive a reward on Fridays.
